“So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple” (Luke 14:33 ESV)

What keeps you from God? Who in your life keeps you from God? What keeps me from God? I get too busy; I don’t plan or prioritize my days. Then I am left wondering how did that happen?

Joining a discipleship group will help you align your priorities, build your faith, learn the truths of the Bible and create friendships and bonds that would not be possible without the love of Jesus. Recently, I have gotten into a habit of making God my priority, every morning, spending time in the Word, praying the Holy Spirit would show me and teach me what God wants me to learn, so I can one day disciple another.

Invite the Holy Spirit into your journaling and reading of God’s Word. Research ways you dive deeper into the Word, I use the SMORP technique:

  • Scripture – what verse stood out to you?
  • Message – what was the message to you?
  • Obedience – what is God calling you to do?
  • Repent – what is nagging at you that you need to walk away from?
  • Prayer – take the time to praise God for all he has already done.

Christ gave his all so that we might be saved. What can you give today that will allow the Lord to take you deeper into His truth?

Being a disciple is not an easy road. We, as Christians, must be intentional about learning who God is, what God is, why God is, how God is, and when to step out into our communities to be a blessing to others.
