Those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing (Psalm 34:10)

Have you ever stared through an oven window, waiting impatiently for whatever is in there to finally be done? That fruity, juicy apple pie, with its golden brown crust taunting you through the glass…

Yet, if you remove it from the oven too early, it’s ruined, underdone and soggy. All because we didn’t follow the recipe, giving it the allotted time to finish baking.

So then, have you ever kept asking God why there’s no change in your heart/life/marriage/finances, all while you weren’t following the recipe He laid out for you? You have been waiting for, what seems like, much too long but you still feel underdone, or discontent. You’re kind, you’re patient, you’re loving, you do your best everyday to maintain your self-control, but you still feel lacking. Were you too busy caught up in what you were hoping for that you miss the one key ingredient?

God gives us the recipe all throughout His Word: seek Him first.

Ecclesiastes 3 reminds us that there is a season for everything under God. It might not always be the season we want when we want it, but He always has a reason for the season we’re in. So that the result is His plan for your life—His perfect plan.  If we seek Him, we will not lack. By following His recipe for our lives and by waiting on Him, we will find what we’ve been hoping for. It’ll be like pulling that perfectly baked apple pie right out of the oven.

Are you following God’s recipe for your life? Do you seek Him first?
