Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift in front of the altar.  First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift (Matthew 5:23,24 NIV)

This action of resolving issues with a person, forgiving, and being forgiven seems simple. And I want to walk in forgiveness all the time as I am told to do. The challenge I often face is this: How do I have a resolution when the other party doesn’t even talk to me? I think this is where I turn to Romans 12: 18 “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”  I struggle to be at peace when someone is upset with me. I remember a quote I saw in a home décor store.

“Don’t give the key to your happiness to someone else."

That has helped me. When I continue to focus on the upset party, I allow the situation to take my joy. I bring my mind back around to focus on how God feels about me. The enemy would have me focus on the negative and rob me of all good things. God would have me focus on “whatever is true, lovely, just, admirable if there be any virtue or if there be any praise think on these things” (Phil 4:8) and Col 3:15 that says, "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts”.

So today, ask yourself: Is there anything I need to do today to resolve something with someone? And if I have done all I can, I turn my mind to God to be at peace.
